Google Ads read-only access request email template for agencies
Google Ads is the one data source in this kit where clients are most likely to hesitate — budgets and billing live in the same account as performance data, so it's worth being explicit about what you're not asking for.
Read-only access sees spend, campaigns, and performance. It cannot edit campaigns, change a budget, or touch billing. Say that plainly, and most clients grant it without a follow-up question.
What access to ask for
Ask for the Read-only access level — either as a direct invite on the client's own account, or, if your agency runs client accounts through a Google Ads manager account (MCC), as a link request. Both land in the same place: you can see spend, campaigns, and performance, and nothing else.
The email to send
Copy this, fill in the bracketed names, and send it as-is. It covers both the direct-invite and MCC-link paths, so you don't need a second version.

Subject: Quick request — read-only access to your Google Ads account Hi [Client First Name], To build your PPC report, we need read-only access to your Google Ads account. This lets us see spend, campaigns, and performance. It does not let us edit campaigns, change your budget, or touch billing. Could you add [agency@email.com] with Read-only access? Steps are below — takes about a minute. (If we already manage other client accounts through a Google Ads manager account, we may send a link request instead — same read-only outcome, one click on your end to accept.) Once it's added, reply and let us know. We'll confirm access on our side before we start building anything. Thanks, [Your Name] [Agency Name]
Click-path appendix: Google Ads read-only access
Forward whichever option applies along with the email above.
Option A — direct invite (most common)
- Sign in to ads.google.com.
- Click Admin in the left-hand menu, then Access and security.
- Click the blue + button.
- Enter our email address: [agency@email.com]
- Under Access level, select Read-only.
- Click Send invitation.
Option B — accepting a manager account (MCC) link request, if we sent one instead
- Sign in to ads.google.com.
- Click Admin in the left-hand menu, then Access and security.
- Click the Managers tab.
- Find our agency under “Link request” and click Accept.
Either way, we can only view your account — not make changes.
Need GA4 conversion data too?
PPC reports use GA4 as an independent cross-check on Ads' own conversion tracking — see the GA4 access guide. Once access is granted, run the 30-second access checklist before you start building.
These guides ship inside every AgencyWorks template as the Client Onboarding Kit.
